Bruny Island Coastal Retreats is passionate about the preservation and celebration of the Island’s extraordinary beauty and rich cultural landscape. The stewardship of our land and the wildlife that inhabit it are our highest priority. We cater for guests who share these values and who seek the “tonic of wildness” - away from the crowds, the endless shops, and the clamor of city life.
Bruny Island is a microcosm of the Tasmanian mainland. It is blessed with an extraordinarily diverse range of distinct environments - spectacular coastlines, geological wonders, beaches, rainforests, mountains, lagoons, abundant flora and fauna - an environmental cornucopia; all at your doorstep!
Our properties fully encompass this environmental diversity offering a range of spectacular settings for communing with the Island’s elemental splendour. Henry David Thoreau’s quote, “I have a room all to myself; it is nature...”, wonderfully encapsulates the experience we aim to evoke.
In keeping with this ethos, we enthusiastically support individuals, organisations, and projects that work to protect the cultural and environmental characteristics that make Bruny Island the very special place it is.

Cloudy Bay Cabin is forty metres from the sand of Cloudy Bay Beach.
The best part is the majority of the land surrounding the 133ha Beach front property is South Bruny National Park. It is accessed by private rd so you do not need to worry about disturbances other than some friendly wallabies. We are off the grid when it comes to power. We have a small power system to run the water, heater and lighting.

The Cloudy Bay Cabin has friendly neighbours although they are not just human. We are surrounded by the natural landscape so wallabies, birds and echidnas are all regular visitors. The Bruny locals are friendly and care greatly for the environment. A great mix of artists and artisan are found locally.
Many of the locals are found at the Friday night meat raffle.
Watch out for a music session once a month at Hoppy's jamboree or the easter wood chop is a great event.
The Island has a surf classic and a bird festival.
The Bruny art prize is gaining great momentum also and has run for several years.
In other words something for everyone or perhaps you want to find your own space and get away from it all.
Thats a common thing down south.. Space!
