The Retreat is architect designed by Michael Witty, whose brief was to design a Mountain house which capitalised on the ocean views to the east as well as looking back into the rain forest to the west. Sliding glass doors open onto the eastern verandah and French doors open out onto the rain forest garden.There is a glass walkway connecting to master bedroom to the en suite accessed through a revolving door. The 2 kingsize bedrooms are "bookended " between the lounge, dinig kitchen area. The kitchen has Miele, Bosch and AEG appliances, and it is a pleasure to cook there. The spa bath in the Master bedroom can be enjoyed looked over the pasture below. It is a special place- there is so much to enjoy.
A welcome message awaits you even before you arrive at The Retreat. Daryl organises your booking from wo to go, and he guides you with recommendations of what to do and see on the Mountain. You will have all the information you need to make the absolute most of your stay. The Retreat team also includes Kathleen and Rebecca, our wonderful cleaners, Gary who makes up the fire ready fo your to light as well as checking that the driveway and garden are looking their best. Alan keeps the remainder of the garden in tip top order with his super rideon mower.
The Coffee Plantation is within walking distance down the road. Birchgrove Nursery and cafe is just across the road, and there is a newcomer in the Boutique Hotel next to St Bernard's Hotel. Worth a visit if you are looking for a sophistcated cocktail or champagne at their bar.
