Each room has its specific theme in link to some of our past adventures. The "Africa" room refers to this splendid continent we have a special bond with. We named the second bedroom "Australia" because we've had the chance to discover this beautiful country since our daughter lives there.

Welcome to our B&B “Groot Genoegen” in the rural Flemish Brabant village of Herne, located in the beautiful and quiet Pajottenland.
A bit about us and our B&B
As travel amateurs, we discovered the bed & breakfast formula for the first time in Canada in 1996, and fell in love. It is perfect for discovering different cultures while wandering around the world. We love the personal and warm contact with the hosts and the exclusive tips and suggestions we get from them. Since then, we have only been traveling this way and after years of experience we have now created our own, with as concept "an invitation to travel".
“Groot Genoegen” means "Great Pleasure" and is the name of a South African wine that we discovered while visiting a vineyard in Cape Town.
During this Corona period, we can organize the ordering of your meals by a take-away nearby.
We look forward to welcoming and looking after you as a traveler.

Herne sightseeing
Herne is a rural and low population density town making it the perfect place to recharge one’s batteries and to get a boost of the fresh air. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and lovers of nature and peacefulness in general.
We are located in between 3 provinces, close to Hainaut and East Flanders.
The village also has some interesting historical buildings. The Sint-Pieterskerk is one of the oldest buildings in the region. A Carthusian monastery was founded at the beginning of the 14th century along with its watermills on the Mark river.
Scattered throughout the town, many farms from the 18th and 19th centuries define the landscape.
And if you happen to be there on Whit Monday you will be able to experience one of the largest annual fairs in the country.
