Originally constructed in 1792 by John and Mary Rogers, the charming residence suffered a devastating fire during the War of 1812, as American forces retreated in December 1813. Remarkably, Mary saved one of the home's exquisite fireplaces, a stunning symbol of the home's enduring spirit. In 1817, their son James rebuilt the house on its original foundation, which later became the beloved 'Anchor and the Crown' Inn.
