In February 2016, we enthusiastically took over as the new Innkeepers of this lovely Bed and Breakfast and have since been working hard to turn it into our own dream. We both left our busy lives in Ontario to pursue our passion of meeting new people, living a quieter life in Nova Scotia, and providing something special to travelers while we are living our dream. Rod, born a true Nova Scotian, spent most of his childhood in the Annapolis Valley and couldn’t wait to come back home. I (Lynn) am thrilled to have returned to my entrepreneurial and people-driven roots and in making this home an authentic Farmhouse experience for all our guests.

In the 1800’s the town of Canning had a population of over 3000, exceeding that of its neighboring towns of Wolfville and Kentville. The main employment of the town was shipyard, the axe factory and Melvin’s Mill. Before 1830 Canning was known as Habitant Corner for several years. At the turn of the century Canning was a hub of activity. The harbour was very busy with both private and government wharves all full of ships delivering cargoes as coal and grindstones and loading cargoes of farm produce, mainly apples and potatoes.
