The Old Town Flat

Once being called „The Green Boot Inn“ and being heated with open fireplaces in each room, the house has transformed in each century. Today you will find relaxation and clarity in the old building fabric, which meets a design of modernity. The walls made of Jurassic limestone were rebuilt according to ancient methods, the wooden beams were exposed and the old structure of the house was preserved and supplemented with modern elements. The house has three apartments, they can all accommodate a maximum of 4 guests. In front of The Old Town flats there are public paid parking lots, which are free of charge between 7pm till 8am. Long term lots are found outside the town walls, Long term parking is located outside the city walls, we will be happy to assist you with a parking card if you wish. By car you can reach the capital city Bern in only 20 minutes. Murten is easily accessible by public transport and the apartments are 10 minutes walk from the train station.

Once upon a time… The Old Town Flats are situated in the medieval town Murten by the lovely lake of Murten. As soon as you enter this little town, protected by a curtain wall, you will find yourself in a quiet Mediterranean atmosphere. Goethe, Casanova, Napoleon or the Dukes of Savoy they have all passed by in Murten and the Old Town Flats are located next to the birthplace of Jeremias Gotthelf, a famous Swiss writer.

Located in an open valley, between the Jura and Fribourg Alps, we benefit from the most sunshine in this area. The region offers an incredible amount for all needs, and this during all seasons: not only the relaxed life by the lake, but also various international and national music festivals in different styles, the annual light festival and other local events as well as sporting events such as the SlowUp, the Triathlon, etc., as well as the beautiful hiking and biking trails make the region very exciting and worth experiencing. In summer we swim, sail, surf, paddle or just relax and enjoy an excellent glas of wine from the nearby vineyards. Around Lake Murten there are many bathing possibilities with enough parking places to enjoy the cool water. Murten and its surroundings are not only beautiful, but also safe: this is also one of the reasons why some well-known personalities live in the immediate neighborhood. Via Munich you can reach Murten in 455, via Nice in 590, via Zurich in 150 and from Geneva in only 130km.
