Hello, I’m Jenny, your host. After graduating in the U.S. in 2013, I worked there briefly before returning to Shanghai to pursue a finance career. On the surface, life seemed ideal with a steady job, marriage, and family, but routine often left me craving new experiences. My passions for filming, dancing, and nature led me to content creation, teaching dance, and regular escapes to the mountains. Xi’an, much like Rome, captivates with its rich culture and history, where every corner tells an ancient story, from flavorful roujiamo to historic walks near the Bell Tower. In 2019, I launched my first Airbnb, connecting with global travelers and sharing stories. Expanding to Booking in 2020, the pandemic posed challenges but also opened new opportunities. My experience showed me that many great listings go unnoticed, inspiring me to create unique accommodations with a Chinese touch for international guests, and to connect Chinese hosts with the world. After five years in the industry, we now manage 90 properties in central Shanghai, five of which we own. We’ve expanded to Xi’an, offering thoughtfully curated stays, and run Hillsshanghai, an independent platform supporting international travel in China. Through our work, I hope more people feel the warmth of a home and the charm of each city.
