Hello, I'm your host, Jenny. After graduating in the U.S. in 2013, I worked there for a year before returning to Shanghai to pursue a career in finance. On the surface, everything seemed perfect: I had a decent job, got married, and had children in a structured way. However, the repetitive nature of my daily life often left me wanting to try new and different things. I have a passion for filming and editing, which led me to become a content creator; I love dancing and offer free classes to friends; I enjoy camping, and every month, I drive out to the mountains, lakes, and forests to embrace the tranquility of nature. To me, Xi’an is like Rome in Italy, a place rich in cultural heritage and history, where you can almost hear ancient stories in every corner. If you stay in this ancient city, it will treat you to warm, flavorful roujiamo or offer a stroll down the old streets beside the Bell Tower, letting you savor the blend of history and modern vibrance. In February 2019, I launched my first Airbnb property, where I had the pleasure of connecting with travelers from around the world, sharing stories and life experiences, which filled me with joy and fulfillment. I started operating on Booking in 2020, but the pandemic brought significant challenges. I wanted to provide international travelers with more accommodation options that offer a unique Chinese touch, and to create a bridge for Chinese hosts to connect with the world. Now, after five years in the homestay industry, we manage 90 properties in central Shanghai, five of which we own. We've now expanded to Xi'an, offering a selection of comfortable, clean, and carefully curated properties for travelers from all over the world. We also run our own independent platform, Hillsshanghai, to assist international visitors with travel in China. Through these efforts, I hope to let more people experience the warmth of a home and the unique charm of each city.
