When you want (at extra cost) well balanced meals with local flavor and ingredients. You decide the type of meals -- vegetarian or vegan or beef and potatoes, just let Yamilet know, So enjoy your vacation, or writer's retreat, without stress of finding a place to eat, or getting laundry done. Franklin (at extra cost) will drive you places not in the tour books, for nature, for waterfalls and old fashioned swimming holes, for shopping or to join tours. Yessenia does awesome massages, on the deck or in your own room... really great after a hard day of adventures. We've thought of everything to make even picky people happy.
I build Volare because I love living above the clouds. I love Volare's constantly changing vistas -- clouds and rain forest and sugar cane fields and city lights all compete for your attention below the giant deck. Yamilet and Franklin and Yessenia removed all the stress after I left my work each day (I owned Serendipity Adventures, a private adventure travel company which operated some of Costa Rica's most remarkable tours, from ballooning and tree climbing to whitewater rafting and canyoning to stealth boats in small nature rivers). For 11 years I lived in Volare -- until I fell in love, and moved with my husband to our farm in the northern part of Costa Rica. Now I share my home with people interested in very unique accommodations, who appreciate interesting architecture and durable construction. Plus -- Volare is in the center of the best real adventures of Costa Rica - the Pacuare River, world class mountain biking, pre-Columbian ruins of a lost civilization, active indigenous area, real jungle, paragliding, kayaking, and unmolested nature all around.
Volare is in a tiny rural community 12 KM above the bustling city of Turrialba, so you have the best of both worlds: access to city shopping and entertainment, the privacy and intimacy of Volare. There's good frequent local bus service to Turrialba. Yet some of my neighbors still go to work each day on horseback.
