Hotel Zur Goldenen Sonne – Where History Meets Hospitality
In the heart of Quedlinburg, right by the Mathildenbrunnen, stands one of the city’s oldest and most significant buildings: Hotel Zur Goldenen Sonne.
A stay with us is more than just an overnight visit – it’s a journey through time. Our listed half-timbered house, built in 1671 by master carpenter Hans Reule, beautifully combines over 350 years of architectural history with the comforts of modern living.
With 29 lovingly designed rooms – including Comfort Doubles equipped with a coffee machine, electric kettle, and spacious layout – we offer you a place to arrive, unwind, and feel at home. Whether you’re looking for historic charm or modern convenience: here, you’ll find both under one roof.
We serve our breakfast buffet daily from 7:00 to 10:00 AM (Sundays until 11:00 AM), featuring regional specialties and a warm smile – the perfect start to a day full of discovery in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg.
The building itself tells stories: from its beginnings as a granary, to its first use as an inn in the late 18th century, to periods of careful restoration and preservation – all leading to its current form as a vibrant, atmospheric hotel in the heart of the city. The historic carriage passage has been transformed into a stylish hotel lobby, and the quiet courtyard with fireplace corner and seating areas offers a peaceful retreat – right in the Old Town.
What our guests love most:
– Unbeatable central location, just steps from the market square
– Large private parking lot directly behind the hotel – a true luxury in the Old Town
– Remarkable architecture, captivating atmosphere, and thoughtful details
– Several rooms with private terraces and outdoor seating
Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a cultural trip, or an inspiring escape to the Harz region:
Hotel Zur Goldenen Sonne is more than just a place to sleep – it’s a place to experience.
