Schellerup Gård is an old farm built back in 1910. Back then there was nothing but a main building and a barn and 12 acres of farmland. In 1960, the farm was taken over by Helge and Jytte Mathiesen, where Helge was director of a plow factory in the nearby town called Lind. They added a additional building to the farm, a swimming pool (which still can be found underneath the floor in apartment 3), and changed the agricultural farm land to forrest land. Their grandson is at our age and lives today just 2 kilometres from the farm with his family in the small nearby town called Kollund.
In 2005, the farm was bought by the previous owners Anja and Kent, who completely renovated the farm from the ground and up. Kent had been in love with the farm for a long time, but it took quite a few visits and several talks to assure the old Mr. Mathiesen that he could safely sell the farm to them. The part of the farm which contains the apartments today, had its roof raised, and all buildings got a thatched roof. The swimming pool was covered, and the three holiday apartments as you see today were created. Anja and Kent spent 3 years building the farm before it became their home for them and their children for 16 years.
We bought and took over the farm in autumn 2021 with a dream of making the farm a unique place for us, our children, our local community and not least for you, our guests. We have many plans and dreams for the farm and the space and nature surrounding it. We've spent a lot of time changing and creating the atmosphere as a farm would have been back in time. Although with a "modern" twist in terms of facilities. Important however, is that we still make all the these new changes in the same spirit and with respect for the previous history.
The farm got its name when we moved to the farm. "Schellerup" is Charlotte's grandmother's old maiden name. She was born in Thisted in 1925, and she was much loved. That is why both we and the farm have been named after her.
We are a young couple in our mid-30s, and together we have two daughters.
We met each other in Copenhagen (the capital) back in 2013, where our first date was on a sports climbing wall. We are a very dynamic couple, full of energy. We are always super active, creative and we are a very executing couple. We complement each other well in our individual strengths, skills and interests. We are good at supporting each other in our dreams as well as the small and big dilemmas and choices of everyday life.
After 9 years in Copenhagen, we decided to pull the plug and go on new adventures in central Jutland. We agreed when we got married that we would make three radical life changes in our life. Moving from Copenhagen to Jutland was the first big adventure. With no family for miles around, we said goodbye to our city life in the big city, to start a new one on the countryside. Trying to live out our dreams.
We embrace a changeable environment filled with opportunities and energy. We love it, we love our farm, and we love each other and our two small princesses.
The small lake which is located just outside the apartments, is our little oasis that attracts a rich wildlife and not least trees and plants. The lake is 3 meters deep and approx 60 x 40 meters large. So there is plenty of opportunity to take a swim.
The surrounding forrest forms the most beautiful setting for the farm and the small lake. Here you will find both old and new forest trees. Trees such as beech, oak, birch and various conifers stand side by side and create a safe home for a lot of local wildlife.
All visiting guests are more than welcome to take a walk in the forest. At the edge of the forest pointing towards east, you'll find the nicest little bench where you can take a rest and enjoy the view over the fields - and if you are lucky, you'll maybe get a small glimse of the forest deers.
