About Byron Mildwater – Founder of Best Stay Copenhagen My journey began in the UK, but I moved to Denmark with my mother after my parents’ divorce. Early on, I discovered I wasn’t built for sitting still – which led me to train at the Royal Danish Ballet. I enjoyed a long and fulfilling international career in dance until a serious injury at 31 brought that chapter to a pause. During my recovery, I began helping friends—mostly expats from the U.S. and Italy—rent out their unused Copenhagen apartments over the summer. I placed a small ad in a UK paper called Loot, and soon demand grew rapidly. With hotels in Copenhagen being both expensive and impersonal, my rentals offered travelers a more affordable and homely experience. That small side project grew to over 40 apartments. After a surprise recovery, I returned briefly to the stage and ended my dance career at age 40. From there, I fully committed to growing Best Stay Copenhagen. What started as a small rental service became a trusted agency built mainly on word-of-mouth recommendations. Today, in 2025, I work with private clients, investors, and property developers, managing and renting out quality apartments across the city. It gives me great satisfaction to help guests have exceptional experiences in Copenhagen, and I’m proud to provide a reliable, personal alternative to hotels. Looking ahead, I aim to grow Best Stay Copenhagen into a strong Scandinavian brand – and eventually bring the same concept to other countries.
