Much of your time will no doubt be spent enjoying the stunning setting of the house itself since every facade of this smart home looks out across a seemingly endless patchwork of interlocking slopes. To the east, the whitewashed homes of El Gastor dazzle against the greenery of olive tree-studded hills. To the north, the graceful boughs of an ancient holm oak form an eye-catching backdrop for the swimming pool and its surrounding terraces. Inside, these scenic vistas are captured through uncluttered windows whilst a colour scheme of stylishly neutral tones lends a refreshingly contemporary feel to well-proportioned accommodation which flows easily through the patio doors of its open plan living area and double bedroom to the comfortably furnished poolside terraces.

From the edge of the village, a country track weaves its way past some typical local dwellings before opening out into an idyllic rural landscape and heading downhill through undulating slopes, steep in places, and splashed with the iconic silvery-green colours of the region’s abundant olive trees. This scenic route from El Gastor to Doña Juana is only 900m and for those who wish to head into the village on foot, a rustic rural track can be found leading east from the house though the countryside into the lower part of the village. Here, amidst a typically Andalucian labyrinth of narrow streets and brightly whitewashed buildings, local shops, some good restaurants and a flower-bedecked central square hum with the friendly chatter of the locals and provide charming surroundings in which to shop for basic provisions and sample the typical cuisine.
