The surroundings of Cañicosa are perfect for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and gastronomy seekers. Nearby, you can visit historically and culturally significant towns such as Pedraza (5 km), a beautiful medieval village with cobbled streets and an impressive castle; Turégano (30 km), featuring a stunning castle overlooking the town square; Sepúlveda (31 km), known for its traditional architecture and proximity to the Hoces del Duratón; La Granja de San Ildefonso (35 km), with its spectacular gardens and royal palace; and the city of Segovia (35 km), where you can admire its famous Aqueduct, the Alcázar, and its majestic Cathedral.
The area offers numerous options for hiking and outdoor activities. Highlights include the Hoces del Duratón (35 km), featuring breathtaking canyons and river trails; the Hayedo de Montejo (43 km) and the Hayedo de Tejera Negra (95 km), two of Spain’s most unique beech forests; the Peñalara Natural Park (55 km), ideal for mountain hiking; and the Sierra de Riaza (40 km). For those looking to cool off in the summer, the Pozas de Navafría offer natural pools in the Cega River, while in winter, the Puerto de Navafría is an excellent destination for cross-country skiing.
Archaeology enthusiasts can visit the Cueva de los Enebralejos in Prádena (10 km), a fascinating cave featuring stalagmites, stalactites, and remnants of settlers from 2000 B.C., once used as a burial site.
To enjoy local gastronomy, there are bars and restaurants in Cañicosa, Prádena, and Navafría, as well as grill houses in Pedraza and Sepúlveda, specializing in roasted lamb and suckling pig.
