A renovated Andalusian rural farm house situated on 20,000m2 of land surrounded by rolling hills and a stream near the village of Iznájar in the province of Cordoba. Steeped in history, the property’s name Finca Las Minas translates to, “The Farmhouse of the Mines”, which refers to its use as Gypsum mine in the 1940’s. The glittering hillside stones are the infamous Gypsum that was once mined there. The donkey’s that pulled the Gypsum carts to market once lived at the farm along with goats, chickens and other animals. The property address Arroyo del Cerezo translates to “The Cherry Tree Stream” that runs nearby and was once surrounded by cherry trees. A few cherry trees are still maintained on the property.
The property is on a split level with a 3 bedroom apartment located on the upper level adjacent to a pool terrace and shared pool. A studio apartment is located on the lower level adjacent to the activity area.
The property is maintained by a lovely multilingual French couple living in a lower apartment who are available for help and advice. They also provide an attractive concierge service with a wide variety of activities.
We are a couple from Northern Ireland with two young school aged kids loving to go back to Spain year after year. We have owned the property for over 20 years and find it’s location relaxing and therapeutic. Laying on the deckchair in the warmth of the night beside the pool, looking up at the bright unobscured stars with the sound of the trickling stream, Owls, and nocturnal animals in the surroundings is surreal. Our kids learnt to swim here in two weeks and are never out the pool when we return.
Nathalie and Antoine live in the lower apartment, maintain the property, are available for help, advice and offer a concierge service with a wide variety of leisure activities and services including breakfast, lunch, dinner, Flamenco dancing, horse trail riding, quad biking, hiking, tourist site visits, sailing, canoeing, other water sports down at the lake and personalised activities.
Finca Las Minas is in the rural part of the village of Iznájar in the province of Cordoba, Southern Spain. There are local cafes, bars and village shops from 2 to 3 km away. Iznájar town centre is about 12 km away and is one of the most charming pueblos blancos in Andalusia, with its winding narrow streets leading up to some fascinating historical points of interest. The village has main attractions all within walking distance from one another. Perched at the top of the village you will find a medieval castle of Arabic origin from the 8th century. There's over 1000 years of history within this village located right along the borders of the provinces of Córdoba, Granada, and Málaga. There are stunning views of the local reservoir known as Embalse de Iznájar which is the largest in Andalusia. It is accompanied with a extremely quaint sandy beach called Playa de Valdearenas with free on beach parking, water sport activities, beach bars and a host of nearby restaurants.
