The historic embarcadero is being refurbished and restored to preserve it for future, and there will soon be a haute-cuisine restaurant opening at the end. The local chiringuito and cafe has been purchased by an Italian owner, and will be developed this May into a year-round eatery with sea views. It is a short 5 minute stroll to the nearest local beach which is quieter than most in Aguilas, and only another 20 minute hike, or a 5 minute drive around to the historic Isla Del Fraile resort and Playa Amarilla - one of the most popular and picturesque beaches Aguilas has to offer visitors, right on your doorstep. The small suburb of El Hornillo has excellent accessibility to travel routes, to nearby picturesque village of Calabardina, the bus and train station is 5 minutes drive away, and the main beaches and town centre are between a 5 min walk and a 10 minute drive. In terms of amenities, Hornillo outperforms where at the bottom. of the street within 5 minutes you have a large shopping centre complete with Carrefour supermarket, pharmacy, cash machines, and Mercadona, not to mention an 8 screen cineplex, and nearby the famous and modern Aguilas Auditorium with regular shows.
