Founded in 1497 by the governor Alonso Fernández de Lugo, La Laguna was strategically located inland to protect it from pirate attacks. As you stroll through its cobbled and perfectly aligned streets, you will notice the influence of its urban design, which served as a model for many colonial cities in America. La Laguna has managed to preserve its original 15th-century layout, offering an authentic journey through time.
