In the middle of the valley of the municipality of Antigua we find the village of Triquivijate, a small hamlet with agricultural and livestock farming origins dating back to the end of the 16th century.
There are many places of monumental and ethnographic interest that can be visited in the municipality of Antigua. Among the must-sees are the Castle of Fuste, which was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and is in Caleta de Fuste; the Church of Nuestra Señora de Antigua, from the 17th century; the Lime Kilns of La Guirra, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest; the aboriginal settlement of La Atalayita or the Molino de Antigua Cultural Tourist Centre, where the work carried out by Majorero artisans is exhibited.
The Windmills are a symbol of the town of Antigua, and of the whole of Fuerteventura. They have their origins in the intense agricultural activity that took place between the 18th and 19th centuries. There are 23 windmills on the island, and Antigua has three of them: the Molino de La Corte, at the entrance to the village, on Calle Abubilla; the Molino de Durazno, on Calle Durazno, and the Molino de Antigua, located on the FV20 road, which has a museum and a traditional craft shop inside.
And another historic and emblematic place in Antigua are the El Carmen salt pans, which are three kilometres from Caleta de Fuste and are the only ones left in Fuerteventura. You can visit them and see how a salt works and how salt is produced, and they house the Fuerteventura Salt Museum.
Costa Antigua is located in the municipality of Antigua, as is Caleta de Fuste, on the east coast of the island. Caleta de Fuste is just 5 minutes from Fuerteventura Airport and 10 minutes from the capital Puerto del Rosario.
This tourist centre has been created around a natural inlet which is very protected from the waves and wind, where a large beach has been created which is eminently family friendly due to its safety and lack of waves.
