La Métairie des Songes chambres d’hôtes lies within the beautiful countryside of the Lot department in the Midi-Pyrénées region of south-west France. An elegant stone-built ‘Quercynoise’ which has stood within the heart of the hamlet of Flagel since 1780. Set amongst 3.5 hectares of garden and woodland, our house overlooks an enchanting private valley. The garden descends to the meadow, passing mature fruit trees, and leads you along the pretty pathway into the woods. Once inside, we welcome you to a delightful level of relaxed refinement in our large sitting room with copious comfortable chairs, wood-burner, central heating and free Wi-Fi connection throughout the house. Clare and I bought this property after searching for a new home from our restaurant in England. It took a month of viewing many properties until (by complete chance) we saw our home-to-be in a tiny picture in an estate agents window ! La Métairie des Songes took 10 months of renovation work before it was opened in May 2008. Each winter, during our closed period we have renovated and updated the rest of the house. We love the countryside, walking, gardening, fine food and wine (of course!), art and music. We met each other at Great Yarmouth college of Art & Design in 1983. We then went on to work in the design industries (Clare in Menswear, myself in Graphic Design). We then threw caution to the wind and bought a restaurant in Dorset, of which we owned for nearly 14years, achieving entries in the Good Food Guide, Michelin and AA Best Restaurants. We also attained a 4 AA Red Diamond Award for our Bed and Breakfast above the restaurant. Since being in France, we have been within the Top 25 Bed and Breakfasts as voted byTrip Advisor's Traveller's Choice reaching positions 25, 18, 14, 8 and No 2 !!

We are within 50 minutes of Cahors and the Lot river, 25 minutes of Sarlat, the Dordogne river (canoeing, swimming, etc) and are surrounded with Châteaux, vineyards to the south, caves, gardens, markets, villages, etc.
