In a secluded valley of the French Corbières region, at the foot of the medieval castle nearby the village of Termes, the mill rests in lush greenery. The river Sou crosses the steep landscape and runs through waterfalls and canyons open for living water sports amateurs.
At the riverside, your yurt welcomes the lovers of nature who can appreciate the river’s melody and nights under the stars. Here, one can take a break from the bustle of city and enjoy the sun- and river-bathing. Take time to relax in the shaded area close to the yurt, in a hammock or beach chairs. For your comfort, private bathroom, toilet and a small kitchen are available nearby. If you need anything more, the miller and his wife will be pleased to help and make your stay a memorable experience.
After years spent in overcrowded megalopolises, running a life of overconsumption in a polluted environment, we have decided to change radically our lifestyle and in 2018, we found a magnificent watermill “Moulin de la Buade”. In May 2020, we restored the watermill, which now produces flour the traditional way. Now we want to share our paradise with you.
The yurt is located in a protected area where nature offers a large variety of plants and animals (70% of French biodiversity is found in the region!). After swimming in the river close to the yurt, you will discover (300 meters away) the deep valley of Termenet, renowned for its waterfalls and cannoning activities (tours with professionals available daily during summer). Hiking lovers can take the GR36 trail from the mill and reach the village, the castle, or the nearby lama farm. Horse-riding tours are also available in Termes.
The village of Termes (3 km away) is nested under its’ castle, candidate to the UNESCO World Heritage. The village offers restaurants and various summer activities. If you like history, within 20 km, medieval castles known as the vertigo sentinels (Queribus and Peyrepertuse castles being the most famous), as well as abbeys (Lagrasse or Fontfroide) open their doors to visitors.
However, if you prefer to relax and stay at the mill, then your hosts will be delighted to show how ancestors have been producing flour since the 17th century with the power of water, and maybe share some good stories.
