This 15th century town house oozes with character and history, being the former Doctor's house in Domme. The property is very well equipped to make your stay more comfortable.
Due to the nature of the master bedroom downstairs being constructed into bedrock the room can become humid. For this reason we have installed a climate controlled dehumidifier which runs automatically. The noise level of this is 46 decibels, it runs 24/7 and switches on and off automatically depending on the weather and climate outside.
Due to the age and history of the house we are not permitted to install a permanent air conditioning unit upstairs. As a condition of the refurbishments by the previous owner, houteaus have been fitted over the Velux windows in the rooms upstairs. We currently have installed a temporary air conditioning unit on the landing area. It is not possible to install units in each of the bedrooms and fans are supplied to help make the rooms more comfortable. However, with the extreme climate conditions Europe has been experiencing recently we are limited with the use of air conditioning in the house. If our planning application is accepted the dormer windows will greatly improve the flow of air upstairs.
The wood burning stove is a lovely addition to the property during the cooler seasons and creates a cosy atmosphere in the autumn and winter months.
The stairs are open plan and wooden with handrails on 2 of the walls, there is currently no banister rail. Please ensure care is taken when using the stairs. Children must be supervised when using the stairs.
Martin and I live in the UK but love the Dordogne and fell in love with the area around Sarlat la Caneda. We purchased Maison de la Combe in 2019, having been refurbished by the previous owner. We added our personal touches to the property to make the property feel welcoming.
We recently installed an ensuite shower room to the master bedroom downstairs and a wood burning stove.
We are not available to meet guests but we have a great team looking after our property maintenance and housekeeping.
Domme is a beautiful Bastide set in idyllic surroundings, because of its popularity the town does become very busy during peak months and parking can become an issue. Whilst there are parking bays adjacent and opposite the house, there is a residential car park for our guests to use, with the parking permit that we supply (this is for one vehicle only and is free of charge).
The area is steeped in history and beauty with Templar history, beautiful chateaus and gardens, kayaking and boating down the river, delicious restaurants and artisan shops. There's so many places to visit and enjoy.
