Built in 1807, Mulé is an old stone French farmhouse (maison de maitre) situated in its own grounds with gardens and a large 6 x 12 swimming pool. It is about 1km from the tiny village of Lagardère and in the middle of beautiful countryside with vineyards, sunflowers and fields of wheat surrounding it. It is very peaceful and the perfect place for a getaway.
We offer one large exclusive bedroom (about 63m2) and large ensuite bathroom with bath incorporating a shower for guests and should a family need it, we do have another bedroom, though they would need to then share the bathroom.
Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool with pool fridge, loungers and parasols during their stay and as we only have the one room, this is very private and guests would be mostly have it to themselves.
Horses graze in our fields, we have a few chickens that give us lovely fresh eggs and Nora, our Jack Russell dog keeps an eye on things!
I am English, though have lived at Mulé for 26 years where I brought my four children up. For 18 years I worked as educator and PR for the Armagnac office, so I can answer any questions on the subject that I am quite passionate about! I can also organise an Armagnac masterclass (supplementary fee). My partner, who is Canadian, and I work together at home and both speak French.
Just outside the village of Lagardère with its old chateau, you can can enjoy lovely views over the fields and vineyards and sometimes see the Pyrenees from the end of our drive. There are plenty of easy walks (marked PR randonnées and the Route Européenne d'Artagnan) straight from our door that wind through the vineyards, fields, woods and villages.
Although in the countryside, it is not far to the local village (about 7kms) with bakery, other shops and a café. The towns of Condom and Vic Fezensac, are much larger towns with more shops, tennis courts, restaurants, etc (about 15kms away). Foodies will enjoy the local markets held most days in the surrounding villages and towns or indeed visits to wine and Armagnac producers in the area.
The west coast is about a 2 hour drive and likewise the Pyrenees, for those who love skiing.
