Firstly, we want to welcome guests properly and give them a home from home and a bit of pampering and relaxation. It is only 8 months since we started and we have been overwhelmed by the wonderful reviews we have received. We had two reviews that were less than 100%, but they were actually made by the company who reserved the room for its employees, We aim for 100%!!
An important local Maison de Maitre, fully restored, but keeping original detailing. The garden has been transformed into a Japanese style area of calm and relaxation, with Tea House overlooking the whole garden and pond with cascade. In good weather, tea can be served on the large terrace or in the Tea House. Work has finally commenced on the garden room with jacuzzi section that has been held up by the weather over the winter and spring months and hopefully we will have it finished before winter arrives. We will also be tiling the whole of the terrace area, but delays caused by the very wet winter may put it off for a month or so. BarBQ available during good weather, as is the Japanese Tea House, which is a beautifully tranquil place to sit and enjoy the peace. We are a just one minute walk to the local hotel and restaurant and a few more minutes into the centre of Hesdin, with many more restaurants, shops and regular town centre features, such as music week, classic car gatherings, fairs, music concerts etc.. Hesdin is a welcoming town and loved by all who visit. It is also very low on crime and we have seen or heard of little or no crime in the many years we have been here.
We are building upstairs in the new year, as well as updating other aspects of the house, but it is a lovely place to live and relaxing to be in. Breakfast (Continental breakfast is free and substantial, allowing guests to pack their own lunches for the day as well as having a good breakfast). Nobody leaves Oasis hungry or stressed!! We are always here to help or advise and only want you to be happy.
Lee has had an interesting career and is currently building a new racing car and has his own historic racer in the long garage workshop. We lived all over the world and owned businesses including restaurants and gites. Lee and Okhee both cook, so a variety of food can be offered, but we hope you will let us know your likes and dislikes if you wish to have a cooked breakfast, as we want you to have the best and everything is fresh. We enjoy company, but give guests privacy. If you have any interests or need to know anything about the area, we can research or will know someone locally who can advise. The bedroom and en suite that we offer is superb and has been described as out of this world and one French Guest who stayed walked in and declared it to be Versailles!!!. The room is totally separate to the rest of our home and has main door entry and now has the original rear door working, so guests, subject to the weather, can sit out in the garden to relax even more!!! Centrally heated and has satellite Smart TV (French and English channels, table and chairs, easy chair, French day bed and huge wardrobes and storage). Although not air conditioned, te room is always cool in summer. Free marked out parking right outside the entrance door. Bicycles can be parked in the hallway immediately outside the room, so 100% safe. We have been here for many years and my children went to local school, college and university, so we can help you plan your stay, or just let us know your wishes and we will try to find out everything that will make your stay better. I used to run gites, but now wish to share our home with visitors. Both Okhee and I have travelled extensively, living and working in many countries, so happy to welcome all travellers. I hated staying in hotels, so we are making your stay more of a home from home and will do everything to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. We will do all we can to put smiles on your faces when you are here and when you leave.
We have won the 2024 Travellers Review Award.
Our lovely Maison de Maitre has a wonderful Master Suite that is suplemented by a lovely garden room and Japanese garden that will be opened for the 2024 summer holiday period. We are about 50 minutes drive from the tunnel, 35 minutes from le Touquet, 2 hours to Paris by train (40 minute drive to TGV and 50 minutes on train), or about 40minutes more by road (we have very few hold-ups when driving here). Agincourt is a 10 minute drive. Very friendly town and in 16 years, I have never felt unsafe or unwanted, being always greeted in local style and everyone says Bonjour when they enter cafes, restaurants etc. Motor racing circuit 20 minutes away and some very good eating places and shops and supermarkets within walking distance. We both love this area and have hundreds of good friends here. Good fishing and many war cemetaries and historic buildings and sites. Le Touquet Paris Plage is a great place to go and has a great beach, shops to die for and nightlife. Berck is the mini Blackpool and the Somme is also just a short road trip. During summer there are car boot type sales (Brocante) virtually every weekend and they mostly have a bar and barBQ's. Lots to do and lots of places to go. The climate here is different to other parts of the country due to the hills, forests and rivers. The air in parts of the 7 Vallees is as good as, if not better than Switzerland.
