A delightful 2 level, top floor, light filled apartment located in the historic centre of a medieval bastide market town in Gironde, southwest France. Beautifully furnished, great kitchen facilities, bath and seperate shower, full laundry, dishwasher, accessed via security keypad with an internal lift to the apartment front door. Views are over the town square and surrounding countryside.
In the streets surrounding, you will find an array of shops including master chocolatier/coffee shop, potter, jeweller, gift shops, clothes shops, boulangeries, wine shop, bars, butchers, pharmacies, restaurants, post office, and newsagent. Several banks and ATMs are also in the surrounding streets.
The town is mainly comprised of a grid pattern of one-way streets around a centrally located square. The apartment is located opposite this square. Free parking is available in the surrounding streets, several carparks, and the town square.
Parking is not possible in the centre of town on Saturday 600am to 200pm due to major weekly markets.
Please note .. this apartment is 2 levels, and not suitable for guests with mobility issues. The bedroom and bathroom are both on the upper level, accessed via an internal staircase.
Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is a bastide town originally founded in 1076, popular today for its wonderful Saturday morning markets and local wines. It is one of a handful of 14th century bastide towns in southwest France, with many medieval and half timber buildings still existing today. Surrounded by Bordeaux and Bergerac wine appellation vineyards, it also has easy access to the Chateaux of the Dordogne valley.
Access to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande can be made by car or by train from Paris via Bordeaux or Libourne stations or directly from Bergerac station. Bergerac airport is 20 minutes by car, and Bordeaux Mérignac airport is roughly 70 minutes by car.
The train station is a 8 minute walk and connects with Paris via either Bordeaux or Libourne TGV. Bordeaux to Paris Montpanasse is 2 hours by the new TGV.
