Our apartment is located on the top floor (2nd level, 2 flights of stairs) to the right of our imposing double fronted townhouse. Situated in an unbeatable locale, with both town and country literally on our doorstep we are wonderfully located to reap the benefits of our surroundings. The property benefits from direct access on to one of Cérets main squares, the centre for many of the towns various fêtes and festivals. It is a wonderful location from which to enjoy the weekly saturday market which literally offers everything from clothes to clothes pegs. There are lovely views to be had from the apartment across the rooftops to the foothills of the Pyrénées , beyond the trees to the church, across the road to the ramparts and below to the hustle and bustle of the many pavement cafés, bars and restaurants. The apartment itself is well equipped, with shared Wi-fi connection (with the rest of the property), fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and full oven, sofa bed in the lounge area (to accommodate 5th and 6th guests) and all towels and bed linen are provided. The remainder of the townhouse itself is home to my family and I and our other letting business.
We are a family, with teenage children who have lived in the area for 8 years. We love this part of the world and the nature, flora and fauna that goes along with it. We are lucky to have all amenities on our doorstep. Here we can readily embrace our love of the outdoors, cycling and horse riding.
Both the town of Céret and wider area of the Vallespir and beyond are incredibly diverse both culturally and geographically, thanks to its unique position within Catalonia, being just a few moments from the Spanish border and situated in the beautiful foothills of the Pyrénees Orientales, in the shadow of the majestic Mount Canigou. é has been frequented and at times inhabited by many an artist over the years, most notably Soutine, Chagall, Matisse, Herbin and perhaps most famously of all Picasso, some of whose works remain on permanent display in Cérets world renowned Musée d'Art Moderne.
If nature is your thing we are just a short walk away from the start of many footpaths that follow the cherry fields and meadows surrounding the town, for the more adventurous some lead to the rather more daunting GR10 trail which rather infamously leads from coast to coast, joining the Atlantic to the Mediteranean. Ceret is rather generously supplied with a good many shops, boulangeries, restaurants, bars, hairdressers, and indeed any number of other shops you can think of. There are art galleries and museums a plenty, including ateliers where you can try your hand at many an art form.
