Quatre Saisons is located in an acre of secluded, wooded gardens, north of Bergerac, where you will find a vibrant café culture, vineyards, châteaux and markets. Being located in the countryside, we are not within walking distance of shops, restaurants or bars but they are only a short drive away.
Outdoor life is great here with our pool, barbecue, table tennis and garden games. You can expect to see and hear wildlife and woodland creatures. It is the perfect place for peace, relaxation and taking a few photos, but of course, in the summer months this also means that there will be insects and mosquitoes in the garden. For your comfort, we provide mosquito nets over the beds and at the doors, electric insect devices and plants to deter the insects. However, we strongly encourage you to pack a mosquito repellent spray for those nights under the stars.
Our pool is seasonal and is usually open from the end of May to mid-September, dependent upon the weather. Our gites are supplied with high-speed wifi.
Please note: The two gîtes are located in a private spot at the far end of the garden about 80m from the car park. To reach the gîtes you have to cross the garden at the top of a small rise or use 12 steps. We do not accept pets.
Re the pool, please note:
We reserve the absolute right to close the pool or restrict the hours of the swimming use for any period of time in circumstances, which we believe to be necessary in the interests of health and safety.
We are therefore not responsible for any closure of the swimming pool due to Government and/or local laws prohibiting the use of water for pool maintenance or for any loss or inconvenience that may be suffered as a consequence of any unforeseen breakdown in the pumping/filtration or any other equipment used in the swimming pool.
We look forward to welcoming you to our gites.
We live onsite, but away from the gites, so we will be around, should you have any questions.
We speak French and a little German and spend our time gardening, walking and enjoying all the pleasures of life in Bergerac.
There's lots to do in the area. Take a guided boat trip on the river from the old port and enjoy a platter of charcuterie and fromage at Quai Cyrano, when you return. This is also a great place for evening entertainment, as they host free concerts throughout the summer.
Visit the maze at the Gardens de Marqueyssac or go in the evening for a romantic candle-lit experience. Take a picnic or barbecue to the inland beach at Parc de Pombonne. Here you can enjoy watersports, then have a meal with live music in the evening.
The Sunday market at Issigeac is a real treat for those who love handmade crafts, olives steeped in garlic or lemon oil and the local saucisson sec. It winds through the Medieval streets and passages, while the delicious smells of freshly roasted coffee and hot crusty bread draw you into the tiny shops behind.
If you want to explore, it is only a short drive to view the Palaeolithic caves at Lascaux, the Medieval beauty of Sarlat, often used as a film set, or climb the ancient cliffs of Roque Gageac. Alternatively, visit vineyards in Bergerac, where you can explore by quadbike, scooter or on foot and taste the local wines.
