This exquisitely restored, stone village house nestles under the ruins of the castle in the oldest part of the small town of Salernes, the pottery centre of Provence.
The southerly panoramic views lead the eye over the rooftops of the town to the rolling, wooded hills and forests beyond.
A few minutes walk down steps or along the lanes leads to "La Place" shaded by platan trees, surrounded by bakers, bars, shops & bistros.
Our week-end retreat comprises of an entrance hall (with a single pull-out bed) a separate w/c & hand-basin & an elegant shower-room with full sized semi-circular shower & wash-basin and the stairway leading to the upper floor.
The open plan upper floor consists of a large study - sitting room with a firm, comfortable queen size (5') bed. An archway leads to the spacious fully fitted kitchen-dining room.
The house is equipped with refrigerator, electric hob, oven and washing machine.
Unrestricted parking is available in the ruelle beside the house or in the street below.
I love knowing people have enjoyed their stay in my favourite part of France !
Salernes is a typical small Provençal market town, with picturesque streets and a relaxing “Place”. Unique are the number of fountains, fed by springs only a short walk away.
As a Ceramics centre, the potteries, both small industrial and artisanal, can be visited.
Weekly markets are on Wednesday and Sundays where delicious cheeses, local fruits and vegetables as well as a host of Provençal goods can be bought.
For the enthusiasts, nearby villages have markets too.
Walkers can enjoy extensive walks in the surrounding countryside, discovering the springs and streams which keep the area so green.
The small museum is also worth a visit.
