It is one of the oldest residential areas in Belfast and has the unique location of being almost beside such iconic places as The Crown Bar, The Grand Opera House, The Europa Hotel and of course Robinsons Bar. In the 1800's Sandy Row was a busy commercial district and by the start of the 20th century there were said to be nearly 130 shops based in the area.
