Hello!
It’s been 12 years since I gave up a proper job and moved to North Norfolk with my wife Pam....funnily enough several of my repeat guests are planning on doing the same thing!
Having sworn that we would never take on another renovation project we ended up with 3 derelict properties in Southrepps. We lived with our daughter while we rebuilt The Hamlet, moved in and started working on Ham House which was built in 1640 as a Yeoman’s house and taken on many guises since....last century it was the New Inn (one of three pubs at the village cross roads). It was then decided that it was too large so we decided to rebuild the third building (the old village hall) as our home. We had to follow the theme and called it Southrepps BarnHam...there is a video on line. The next decision was that we would stay in Ham House!
Running 2 Holiday Lets was never our plan but we have found it stimulating versus retiring.
I greatly enjoy meeting new guests and welcoming back many “old friends”.
Our intent is to offer an unusually high level of holiday home accommodation and we would ask that any shortfalls are identified as soon as possible to enable them to be addressed.
Southrepps is a rustic flinty Village with very friendly inhabitants, village shop, a PO and a great village pub, The Vernon Arms, which delivers great food. The nationally famous Gunton Arms (and railway station) is nearby. All are wheelchair and dog friendly.
Southrepps BarnHam is 2.5 miles from the coast, 15 minutes drive in three directions from the lovely sandy beaches of Cromer, Overstrand and Mundesley. It is also just 20 minutes from the Norfolk Broads and the NT Felbrigg and Blickling Halls.
Google will show you a plethora of children’s activities and there is a large recreation ground and very well equipped children’s area close by. Golf at Sheringham, Cromer and Mundesley, Tennis in Cromer, Squash and 10 Pin Bowling in North Walsham and Fishing in Roughton (all 10 minutes away)....as are Waitrose, Morrison and Lidl stores.
Seafood is readily available, relatively new are No1 Fish Restaurant (owned by Galton Blackistone) and Rocky Bottom (owned by Crab and lobster fishermen), Takeaways are available.
Most popular outing for all ages (and dogs!) is to take an open boat to see seals CLOSE UP!
Or you may choose to hide away in BarnHam in the heart of Southrepps.
