5A is an ideal holiday home getting away from it all. The living room has a multi fuel stove with wood and peat provided and patio doors leading to an external decked seating area. The open plan kitchen/dining room also has patio doors leading to a decked picnic/barbeque area. The master bedroom is located downstairs, as is the bathroom which has a separate bath and shower, a separate WC and utility room with washing machine and clothes airers/dryers. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a quiet seating area with a selection of books of local relevance. Outside there is an off-grid, wood fired hot-tub with an ample supply of wood for your stay. In the 'garage' you will find an infra-red sauna, pool table, wide screen TV, drinks cooler, dart board, rowing machine and comfy sofas. The property is pet friendly and whilst the garden area is fenced, care should be taken to ensure your pet(s) do not stray as we are in a crofting township where livestock may roam free.
We love to welcome guests to our family owned and run, self-catering property which is at the heart of our crofting enterprise. We are active crofters, running separate flocks of Scottish Blackface and North Country Cheviot ewes and welcome guest interaction at any level at various times of the year. This could be anything from a simple movement of stock from one field to another, shearing or a very hands-on lambing experience.
5A is located on the Atlantic west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. We are situated in the heart of the crofting township of Carloway which consists of several individual townships. At the centre of the village there are our two churches, Carloway Free Church and Carloway Church of Scotland, where you are assured of a warm welcome and both churches have services in English and Gaelic. We also have a Community shop in what was the original Carloway primary school. We are in close proximity to the famous Callanish Standing Stones, dating back 5,000 years and pre-date Stonehenge. Stornoway, the main hub and capital of the island, is approximately 24 miles away or 16 miles if using the cross island, single track, Pentland road. We have the luxury of two breathtaking, unspoilt beaches on our doorstep, with Dalmore beach a mere two miles away and Dalbeg, to the north, four miles away.
