Unique 16th Century top floor apartment in the centre of historic Rye with views over the rooftops and citadel. Built on the historic William the Conqueror main Rye wall and just a stones throw away from the famous haunted Mermaid Inn in Mermaid street. The apartment has wonky beamed ceilings and wonky floors mixed with modern kitchen and bathroom with a small Juliet balcony. All the charm of Rye with its cobbled streets, quaint restaurants, Inns, cafes,tea rooms and antique shops are right on the doorstep! Guests can enjoy everything within the apartment including picnic basket & waterproof blanket for the nearby beaches and countryside and for those rainy days a TV, books, board games and cosy throws! Or you could visit the church converted cinema for the latest films as well as live streamed ballets and opera! (Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties due to steep stairs leading to apartment and ancient uneven steps leading to main entrance) suitable for two people (one double bed) but can take a child or baby on request ( travel cot, stair gate & portable high chair available ). Storage is slightly restricted due to uneven layout. Storage cupboard in the small room is locked and private. I live here part of the year so please be kind!
I truly hope you will love Rye as much as I do! I stay here half of the year as I can’t stay away too long and love watercolour painting from the bright kitchen. The town is so enchanting and historic with so many beautiful places to capture on camera. Not to mention some lovely beaches only minutes away! Also a favourite spot for filming and weddings! There are historic walks on various dates and also a ghost walk at certain times, apparently around 900 possible ghost sightings are thought to have occurred here! A charming town awaits you!
The apartment is central so walking distance to all attractions! Great restaurants, Inns, tea shops and antique shops on your doorstep!
