Dolphin House was built around 1700 in the local Bath stone and is listed as a Grade 2 building of historic interest. It has a walled garden laid out in the Italianate style with statues, a stone gazebo, Gothic folly and water features. Guests are welcome to sit in the garden or on the terrace. The guest rooms are decorated and furnished in period style with a Georgian/ Jane Austen theme. Breakfast can be served on the terrace in summer time or in the orangery unless the weather is particularly cold when it's served in your room. The Jane Austen suite has a small flight of stairs up to the bathroom which may not be suitable for those guests with mobility issues. This bathroom although large in area has a maximum height of 185cms owing to the age of the building. It has a walk in shower.
Dolphin House is situated at the foot of Little Solsbury Hill, the hill made famous in the Peter Gabriel son "Climbing up on Solsbury Hill" This area is owned by the National Trust and is a 20 min walk from the house. It is also an Iron age fort and has panoramic views off Bath. The village of Batheaston /Northend is picturesque with many listed buildings and a very old church. It is situated on the Southern edge of the Cotswolds and is excellent walking country. There are five pubs within walking distance, four of these serving food plus a fish and chip restaurant/takeaway. The George and Dragon, five minutes walk, has an excellent Indian restaurant at the back (Eastern Spice) and Robbie's Plaice (fish and chips ) is next door. The Bathampton Mill by the river has a large bar and restaurant and is 15 minutes walk and The George at Bathampton is next to the canal and has an extensive menu, 20 minutes walk. The Crown at Bathford serves food, 15 minutes on foot.
We have a frequent bus service into Bath centre and the bus stop is under five minutes walk from here. Buses are every 10-15 minutes during the day, half hourly in the evenings. The bus journey takes 15 minutes into town.
