This beautiful Victorian house is situated in a peaceful location, overlooking Oban Bay and Islands of Kerrera, Lismore and Mull.
Originally built as a summer residence by the Duke of Argyll in 1870, Dungallan Country House is situated on the edge of the town of Oban. The tranquil and secluded, yet commanding position means that the hotel offers superb views to 3 sides. Oban’s promenade and the town’s shops are just a 10-minute stroll away.
All of the en suite rooms have been fully refurbished to a very high standard and most have magnificent sea views.
Free wireless internet access is available throughout.
There is a cozy and exclusive bar, offering a choice of local blended and single malt whiskies. With a huge picture window, the bar overlooks Oban Bay. The residents’ lounge is a great place to relax and read by the warmth of an open log fire.

If your next break conjures up images of being looked after in an oasis of calm, having a glass of champagne, whisky or G&T in peaceful surroundings with the most breath-taking views, a short walk to amenities and on the doorstep of Scottish island hopping, then consider a stay with us. It’s clear to see why the Duke of Argyll picked this particular spot to build Dungallan Country House as his summer residence in 1870.
Dungallan’s owner completed a 2 stage renovation project in early 2023 to sympathetically reinstate some well-deserved sumptuous, understated charm and glamour. Not only did the bedrooms receive a full refurbishment, three new suites were also created with the addition of opulent roll top baths and underfloor heating. In the main house, the bar, restaurant and library were also treated to the tasteful renovation experience.
We offer golf breaks in conjunction with Glencruitten Golf Club, home course of Robert McIntyre. 3 sets of Taylormade clubs are available to use. Please contact us direct for bookings.
