This is a large property which had plenty of space for just the 3 of us. It is situated in a quiet fishing village just a couple of streets away from a shop, pubs and a couple of snack places - convenient after a long NC500 drive up the east...

So, I had a slight issue with the boiler upon arrival, however I email Calum (the owner) and asked him to call me to resolve. He did this promptly and we resolved the issue on the phone.

Lovely warm spacious home in the heart of the Helmsdale Village. Close to all local amenities - shops, restaurants, pubs and Cafe. Lovely sights within a stones throw - the harbour, the famous Helmsdale River, golf course and many walks for all fitness abilities. Comfortable well equipped accommodation for families, groups, couples or individuals. An ideal stopover on the North Coast 500 route for weary travellers to relax and unwind in a peaceful location. Historic house built in the early 1900's and fully modernised. Please bear in mind there is only 1 bathroom as en-suites weren't the rage when this was built! However, the shower pressure is excellent. The kitchen is large and boasts an 8 burner range cooker and American fridge freezer. Please cook or bake to your hearts content. There is super fast fibre broadband WiFi throughout the property. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video on some of the TVs. Feel free to use all facilities of the house. There is plenty of parking to the front of the property including a disabled parking space. Motorcycles can be stored to the rear of the property if you like. There is an outdoor seating area to enjoy during good weather.
Originally from South Africa, I've travelled the world and finally settled in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Fortunately with my job I still get to travel extensively. Any questions or problems you can contact myself or the housekeeper.
Helmsdale is a small friendly village on the NC500 route set in a peaceful location with stunning views. There’s plenty to see and do - beach walks, gold panning, fishing, shooting, mountain and trail walks and a lot of wildlife around too. The area has an association with Viking history and attracts a great many tourists. The village is renowned for its gold panning at Kildonan and the Timespan visitor attraction depicts the regions diverse history. The village has approximately 750 inhabitants and is one of the main centres of population in Sutherland. It also has an excellent links golf course and is in easy reach of the famous course at Royal Dornoch which lies to the south. The region is also renowned for its whisky production, with distilleries in Brora, Wick and Tain. For walkers the beautiful Sutherland terrain offers varied degrees of challenge from the more leisurely hillwalking to more stretching mountaineering. A wide range of birdlife attracts the ornithologist and the area has a huge appeal to the naturalist. The local rivers appeal to large numbers of sports fishermen looking to net trout or salmon. A very popular stopping point on the North Coast 500 route.
