Glyndyfrdwy is in the Dee Valley, 4.4 miles from Llangollen. In 1400, Owain Glyndwr proclaimed himself Prince of Wales and began his 14-year rebellion against the English in this village. The village has a pub and the eroded remains of Owain's Mount, a 12th-century castle motte. Offa's Dyke Pathway is nearby, and canoeing is available on the River Dee. Nearby Llangollen is known for its annual Musical Eisteddfod and white water rafting. Take a steam train through Dee Valley, visit Erddig or Chirk Castle, or explore the Clwydian Hills or Snowdonia National Park. Fabulous year-round!
