Flowers Barn is a beautifully converted detached grade 11 listed Cotswold stone barn, still boasting many original features throughout. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Duntisbourne Rouse and Duntisbourne Leer. The name is taken from the River Dunt which flows through the village, and also from monks at the Abbey of Gloucester who controlled the area in the 13th century. Flowers Barn is adjacent to the owners’ working farmhouse and occupies a beautiful countryside setting.
Built mainly in the time of Charles II, Flowers Barn was once home to aspiring writer and farm owner Eliza in the early 18th century. Eliza came to inherit 420 acres of land from her father, rather than one of her four brothers and dedicated her life to the farm. She was a very bright and keen horsewoman, who was the first in the area to own a bicycle and a gas cooker. Eliza worked on the farm up until she died in 1901....
