Grove Fort is located in a rural setting on a working sheep and cattle farm. While it is rural and quiet it is also very centrally located as a basis for visiting all of Northern Ireland and northern parts of the south of Ireland. It is only 12 miles from the coast at Newcastle and the famous Mourne Mountains. It is 80 miles (90 minutes) from Dublin and about the same to the Giants Causeway at the most northerly point. We are approximately 6-7 miles from the main M1/A1 connecting Dublin to Belfast and it is possible to drive from Dublin Airport to Grove Fort without any sets of traffic lights! Numerous tourist attractions are within a 20-mile radius of Grove Fort

Your hosts are Ivan and Annette Rankin, who are retired professionals and are on hand to give advice and help when necessary with ideas of where to visit, how to get there, and any other queries that may arise. They are happy to be consulted or are happy to leave guests to their own devices if that is the guests wishes.

Grove Fort is on the edge of the Mourne/Slieve Croob area of outstanding natural beauty. The local scenery is very beautiful - typical of Northern Irish countryside There are shopping facilities for provisions in Dromara and Dromore (4 & 6 miles). Larger shopping outlets are at Sprucefield (12miles), Banbridge (9miles), and Belfast (22 miles). As regards places to visit- Titanic, Belfast is 22 miles away, Hillsborough Castle and gardens, village and forest park are 9 miles away, Downpatrick (St Patrick's Trail 19 miles), Castleward, Carlingford Lough, Castlewellan Forest Park (10 miles) Tullymore Forest Park (12miles) and many many other attractions are within easy reach. There are numerous events and Agricultural shows all year round. Most of our visitors say they need more time to explore Northern Ireland!
