Situated right in the heart of Wensleydale, Hawes can be reached via a footpath from the cottage. The market town of Hawes (market day Tuesday) is home to Wensleydale Creamery Visitors Centre, whilst nearby Hardraw Force, England's largest single drop waterfall, is a perfect way to fill the day walking. Just 30 minutes east, resides the historic town of Leyburn, offering a plethora of shops, The Wensleydale Railway, pubs and of course walks; having something for all ages!
The Forbidden Corner makes a great day out for all the family and is home to the Saddle Room restaurant, perfect to wine and dine your evening away.
Sedbergh is situated just 30 minutes west, England's official book town with a variety of book shops offering cheap reads to collectables. It is a must visit for anyone who loves the outdoors. You can walk, run, cycle, golf and even horse ride to your hearts content whilst you take in the "proper Yorkshire air"! Nearby Farfield Mill offers hand crafted local heritage products direct from the artists, and a tea room full of delicious treats.
Staying close to home and just five minutes away, is the picturesque village of Askrigg, steeped in Yorkshire Dales history and famous for the original filming of James Herriott's, All Creatures Great and Small. Surrounded by the rolling hills of Wensleydale, enjoy short walks throughout the dale and finish off with a bite to eat in The Crown, also known as the 'Top Pub' or The Kings Arms, the 'Bottom Pub' or order yourself a prepared meal from The Bake-Well, the village Deli and bring it back to the comfort of the farm house.
