The Honey Bee Shepherd's Hut is located on the grounds of the former Hawkshead Grammar School, next to the owner's bed and breakfast. You are just a few minutes' stroll from the centre of Hawkshead Village, where you'll find a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants—perfect if you don't feel like cooking. The Hut features a kitchenette equipped with a small breakfast counter and two stools. In the corner, a raised log-burning stove provides warmth on cooler nights. It also includes a self-contained shower room with a heated towel rail and a walk-in shower that is mains-plumbed, ensuring excellent water pressure. Outside, there is an enclosed patio area with an Astroturf surface that includes a hot tub with a sail above it, garden furniture, and a secure undercover area for storing walking gear or bicycles. The Hut and hot tub offer views of the established gardens of the B&B and Latterbarrow, a fantastic walking area with stunning vistas if you choose to explore. *Please note: The sail that provides partial cover for the hot tub may be removed if the weather forecast predicts poor conditions.*

Hawkshead is a beautiful village situated on the Western shores of Lake Windermere. It is surrounded by stunning scenery and plenty of walks. The 505 Bus route between Coniston and Kendal travels through Hawkshead, stopping at Ambleside, Waterhead Pier (Change here for the Windermere cruise boats), Brockhole Visitors Centre, Windermere and Ings, so leave the car and explore by bus. Nearby Grizedale Forrest is hugely popular with walkers and mountain bike riders. The forest offers a range of bike routes, graded for difficulty, walking routes taking in the woodland sculptures and also Go-Ape where you can fly between the treetops and zoom on the zip lines. Ambleside (which is walkable on off-road tracks) is a foodie-delight. There are lots of pubs serving good food and real ales, and eateries including the Michelin Starred The Old Stamp House Restaurant. Coniston and Coniston Water is another popular choice for visitors. Head there on the bus and tackle Coniston Old Man or perhaps set sail on the Coniston Steam Boat. Visitors here also have a good choice of pubs, shops and eateries.
