Company information

We are not a hotel in the traditional sense. There’s no reception or lift to all floors (if you have mobility issues we may not be the place for you). We don’t provide room service or morning calls. We will be available ‘on line’, but are happy to send you an access code the day before your stay, and leave you be in all other respects to make yourselves at home. All bookings are on a room-only basis but there’s no need to go hungry; our cafe bar opens daily from 9am serving delicious breakfasts, brunches and lunches. We don't service rooms after check in, but instead invite guests to request fresh linen to be delivered the following morning.

Our boutique holiday accommodation on Whitby’s west side comprises nine bespoke rooms, each with a peculiar tale to tell of Whitby history, folklore and legend. Our aim is to provide something a little bit different from the norm with a quirky approach to decor and a love of storytelling; not just accommodation, but a destination for those looking for the full Whitby experience.

Neighbourhood information

We are located on Skinner Street near Whitby’s West Cliff; a vibrant street of independent shops, bars, cafes and galleries and just a short stroll to the beaches, station, museum, harbour and the swing bridge. Whitby is a fabulous mix of the traditional and the obscure; where the best of the mainstream British seaside holiday blends with the alternative, artistic and sometimes bizarre. It’s attitudinal, unconventional and incomparable. It's the Jet Black Jewel of the Yorkshire Coast.
