On the banks of Loch Long, this 4-star hotel is surrounded by the magnificent scenery of Scotland’s west coast. There is a garden terrace overlooking the loch, and a lounge bar with wooden carvings and log fires in the colder months. With handmade shortbread, fluffy bathrobes and organic soaps, rooms at Knockderry Country House Hotel are all individually designed. They come with antique furniture, are decorated with local artwork, and feature a flat-screen TV. Evening meals are served in the old wood-panelled dining room, with its stained glass windows and pretty views over Loch Long. Full cooked or continental breakfast is also available each morning. There are a variety of activities you can enjoy around Knockderry, including walking, watersports and fishing. Dunoon and Gourock are around 1 hour and 20 minutes away by road.

Cove is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is on the south-west of the Rosneath peninsula, on the east shore of Loch Long. In common with many villages in the area, Cove was home to wealthy Glasgow merchants and shipowners in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Several of the large houses have either been converted or have gone. Survivors include over a dozen houses by Alexander "Greek" Thomson: Craigrownie Castle, Glen Eden, Craig Ailey, Ferndean and Seymour Lodge, all dating from the 1850s.
