Company information

Bridget and Richard live on site and are available to answer any questions and to help make your stay as relaxing and trouble free as possible (we are also very respectful of every guests privacy) Bridget is an artist and garden designer and Richard is a skilled crafts man who loves to work in wood and other materials. Together they renovated the lodges and landscaped the gardens at Moor and Sea over the course of a year. They now also run residential art courses here in the quieter months alongside the holiday accommodation business. "We believe in providing accommodation that we would love to stay in and have designed the spaces, including the gardens and paths through the wildflower meadows, to create a restorative and relaxing place to stay and still with plenty of room to walk, picnic, relax and play. We are as eco friendly as possible in all of our practices and believe in encouraging wildlife in the surrounding gardens and fields." We love living in this beautiful part of the world and exploring the many varied walks, swimming off the many lovely beaches and kayaking along the coast.

Property information

Linnet is one of 8 stone holiday cottages at Moor and Sea Holidays with south-facing views over Exmoor (number 6 on the site plan). There are 12 acres of gardens and fields with meandering paths through wildflower meadows and spaces to play, picnic, practice early morning yoga, or simply sit enjoying the view and birdsong. Linnet has easy access to our fields for early morning walks or evening strolls under the stars. The light and airy living area has picture windows over looking the garden towards Exmoor and is furnished simply but beautifully in natural materials with an armchair and a sofa bed. There are maps, guidebooks, and games and super fast WiFi. The TV is set up with Netflix and amazon Prime. To the other side is a dining snug, comfortably seating up to four, with soft cushions...a perfect place to enjoy a meal, play games, or put your feet up and enjoy the views and everchanging skies over Exmoor. The living area opens onto the well-equipped kitchen stocked with a selection of local teas and coffee, olive oil and basic condiments. There is a spacious double bedroom with soft French linen or high quality cotton bedding and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Outside there is a south-facing terrace with dining seating and lovely planting. Linnet has it's own parking space. There is an art room, ideal for rainy days and we run a selection of residential art courses from September to May( guests can use the art room anytime apart from when a course is running). We have a guest utility with washing machines, tumble dryers, ironing boards and irons, a chest freezer and lending library of books and indoor and outdoor games. We have super fast fibre optic WiFi throughout and there are two EV chargers for the use of our guests. We live on-site and provide local information and recommendations so you make the most of your time here.

Neighbourhood information

Situated near the lovely towns of Lynton and Lynmouth and within easy reach of Exmoor National Park, the southwest coastal path, beaches and temperate rainforest, Moor and Sea is the perfect base from which to explore this unspoiled part of the world. Lynton and Lynmouth are our local towns connected by the famous Victorian water-powered funicular railway. Lynmouth is a pretty harbour town with a long stretch of shingle and rock beach which is lovely to swim off at high tide. Both towns are fun to explore with a variety of local independent shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and cosy pubs. Lynton is also famous for the stunning landscape at Valley of Rocks with beaches at Lee Bay and Wringcliffe. Walking around this area is wonderfully varied from the woodland riverside walks with waterfalls and cool pools for wild swimming to breathtaking coastal paths and open expanses of moorland. North Devon has some of the loveliest and cleanest beaches in the world. From the international surf reserve at Woolacombe with 3 miles of golden sands to the secluded coves of Heddon Mouth and Broadsands. So many places to explore from castles and gardens to the coastline by boat trip or kayak!
