This Victorian single-storey cottage sits across a bridge from the private Worthy Toll Road next to a stream and surrounded by woodland a mile from Porlock Weir. Previously the Ashley Combe Estate keeper’s cottage, it now welcomes holiday guests for a peaceful break ‘away from it all’. The main sounds at this location come from the tumbling Worthy Stream and woodland animals. From the front entrance porch you step up to your sitting room, cosy with open fire, wood floor, rugs over, red leather sofas, TV, DVD. Through the door opposite is the well equipped kitchen with open plan dining area. Next is the utility room, then a glazed rear porch which leads out onto a sheltered terrace with garden furniture. At this point the cottage is high above the surrounding area and has the feel of a tree house. Sleeping three people, a door from the sitting room leads you into the main bedroom with King bed, leading through again into the single bedroom (with truckle) which has an additional door to the bathroom. The bathroom (bath with shower over) can also be accessed by a door from the glazed porch. Central heating throughout. Free Wifi. Note: Dogs are permitted on all tiled floor areas only. Good housekeeping bond to be arranged direct with owner upon booking.
I have been involved with different aspects of hospitality for over 30 years; it gives me much pleasure to share this haven of tranquility with holiday guests. I am available to provide as much information and help as is required to enable our guests to make the most of their stay at Lovelace. It really is the perfect place for forest bathing.
Exmoor spans West Somerset and North Devon with high, open moorland, a variety of different woodlands and a dramatic coastline. Famous for its red deer and Exmoor ponies, the area offers activities and interest for all the family: wildlife safaris, trekking, riding, biking, kayaking, fishing and boat trips can be arranged locally. Porlock is a quaint village with a variety of shops, Post Office, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers interesting little shops and different food outlets with opportunities to sit outside and enjoy the harbour atmosphere and wonderful views across the Bristol Channel. The coastal path leads west to Culbone, the smallest complete Saxon Church still in use, then up onto the moor and on to Lynmouth and Lynton. Eastwards it runs via pretty Selworthy to Minehead . Nearby Dunster is a medieval village with historic buildings, local crafts and hospitality. A trip on the steam railway can be accessed at Minehead. For sandy beaches head towards Woolacombe.
