Lyncot is in the village of West Witton on the edge of The Yorkshire Dales National Park with it's very own award winning restaurant, The Wensleydale Heifer and local The Fox, one of the oldest buildings in the village. The Fox being a more traditional, cosy pub serving home-cooked meals and local ales. There is even a village shop Withywood Stores offering those last minute items you've forgotten to pack. All just a few minutes walk away.
West Witton is an excellent base for exploring all the area has to offer. For those seeking to blow away the cobwebs, take a walk up Penhill from the doorstep of the cottage; a well known landmark in Wensleydale overlooking the village, boasting spectacular views of Wensleydale and beyond.
A short drive away will take you to Aysgarth Falls a series of waterfalls surrounded by woodland with various walks for all abilities, and a proper Yorkshire brew at Mill Race Teashop. Bolton Castle one of the countries best preserved medieval castles, wander round the gardens or watch a Falconry display.
A 10 minute drive East the bustling Market town of Leyburn, has a fine array of independent shops, cafes and pubs, serving locally sourced produce. The Sandpiper and The Black Swan Hotel serve excellent food. Campbell's supermarket has a traditional butchery counter, a delicatessen counter and a wine selection said to be the finest in the North.
