Old Hall was built in 1553 (for the curious, at that time Edward VI was King – he was the son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour and Old Hall was once home to lady-in-waiting to Lady Jane Grey – queen for 9 days). Set in six acres, Old Hall is grade 2 listed and an enchanting Tudor property.
The Old Hall offers two separate and self-contained holiday accommodations: The Coach House and the East Wing both provide separate, self-catering accommodations.
Old Hall is a property of immense character and charm: the thatched roof, a walled garden, lots of pretty corners in the beautiful garden in which to sit, or lie in the hammocks and relax, the stables, the gardens for your children or dog to play in, the quiet and privacy.
Inside, Old Hall is beautifully furnished in a grand style but is also very comfortable. Farrow and Ball paint has been used throughout to ensure a soft finish to the house. The East Wing has a large inglenook fireplace with a generous log burner, and a jacuzzi bath big enough for two. The Coach House is tastefully furnished and overlooks the horses' paddock.
Amenities include indoor and outdoor games, bicycles, home entertainment including cable TV and Netflix.
Our guests can experience a range of additional touches: private dining is available with a professional chef, afternoon tea served either in the garden or the drawing room, deluxe hampers for your stay.
Old Hall is a Tudor manor house, built in 1553 and its character reflects its great age. The walls are thick, the beams are even older than the house (they came from sailing ships) and the place oozes charm and history.
Gil and Philip are very thoughtful hosts who give exceptional time and attention to their home and to meeting the needs of their guests. From sourcing and booking restaurants and trips, planning beach huts, picnics or afternoon tea for guests, or setting up games in the garden. Nothing is too much trouble for your hosts.
We like to ensure that our guests fully participate (if they want to) in the Old Hall experience by giving treats to the donkeys, collecting eggs from the hens, cycling (bikes provided) round the quiet country lanes or lazing in a hammock listening to the donkeys munch away at their pasture.
Old Hall is situated in a quiet village just four miles from historic Kings Lynn with its quay and riverside bars and restaurants and quaint old town. Within easy reach is Norfolk's celebrated, untamed coastline, with vast beaches.
Norfolk is full of great places to eat, especially seafood, independent shops and beautiful villages. There are lots of National Trust properties including Oxburgh Hall, Castle Acre with its castle and priory and of course, Sandringham is just 12 miles away.
