Ross On Wye is ideally situated for exploring Hereford approx 14 miles . Hereford cathedral contains the Map Of Mundi and chained library. Gloucester approx 15miles is another interesting city to explore with it's historic a docks and magnificent cathedral the cloisters of which were used in the Harry Potter films. Dennis Potter the noteable playright lived in Ross and many of his plays took inspiration from the Royal Forest of Dean which is a lovely place to explore on foot or its miles of cycle tracks. The sculpture trail at Beechenhurst is well worth a visit and has an amazing childrens play area. Cheltenham approx 45mins and Cirencester approx 1 hour are both worth a visit. The Malvern Hills offers magnificent views and walks and the town of Malvern has many independent shops and an excellent theatre. Ledbury a small market town is approx 25mins with an historic butter market and many interesting shops. Fishing and canoeing on the lovely river Wye are very popular and easily accessible from the house .
