The house was formerly the garage of the famous Metropole Hotel in Whitby and was converted in 2020 into three-story accommodation comprising:
- Open plan kitchen, diner and lounge with bifold doors opening to the terrace and garden area. Downstairs toilet.
- A first-floor family bedroom with two single beds and a bifold door opening to a balcony with a view of the promenade and sea.
- Family bathroom with toilet and shower.
- The second-floor master bedroom has a king-sized bed, a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite with a toilet and shower. A bi-fold door opens to a balcony with views of the Whitby coastline and town.
- Terrace and garden area at the front of the house with outdoor chairs, table, and sea views.
- The two private parking spaces at the front of the property are a rare find in Whitby. Having an EV charger for your electric vehicles is even rarer! There is a 7kW Type 2 untethered charger and a 15m charging cable for guests' use. The EV charging fee is currently 30p per KWh, covering domestic electricity costs and service provider charges for the charging management app.
The interior is influenced by retro design, mixing quirky vintage items with top-quality modern appliances. Luxurious white bedding and fluffy white towels are provided.
The kitchen contains an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, full-size dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine (takes original pods), kettle, and toaster. Basic supplies of tea, coffee, condiments, olive oil, refuse bags, and dishwasher tablets—plenty of cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, baking dishes and oven trays. Tea towels and oven gloves are supplied.
The lounge has a comfortable corner sofa, a smart TV with Netflix, Wi-Fi, and a DAB radio with a Bluetooth speaker for playing music from mobile devices. There is also a selection of books, games, guidebooks, maps, and a coffee table.
Shops and pubs are 5 minutes walk, and the beach is 1 minute's walk.
We are Ian and Sarra. We love vintage fashion, homeware and furniture and that reflects in our home and holiday cottage. We live with our grown-up daughter and Siamese cat Mungo.
We will be contactable before and during your stay via email and mobile phone if you have any questions or issues.
We have a local maintenance firm on hand if there are any unexpected issues that need addressing quickly.
The property is located just one minutes walk away from the West Cliff Promenande. Whitby town is a short walk from the house, so you can park up on the two free parking spaces at the front of the house and easily walk to all locations in Whitby. Whitby town has many lovely restaurants, cafes and bars which are open all year round. This is also a great venue to explore further into Noth Yourshire, either along the coast to nearby locations like Robins Hood Bay, Scarborough or Saltburn, or into the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. Whitby is also the end of the line for the North Yorkshire Railway, where you can catch a steam train right through to Pickering. The local beaches at Whitby and Sandsend (at the other end of Whitby Bay) are stunning, providing plenty of opportunity for beach holiday fun for young children, and surfing for the older and braver visitors. There are also fossils to be found on all the local beaches.
