Rutland, located in the East Midlands of England, may be the UK's smallest county, but it offers a range of attractions and activities. Here are some things to do in and around Rutland:
No doubt, Rutland Water will be on your to-do list, and quite right too. Just 12 miles away.
Visit Belvoir Castle, owned by the current 11th Duke of Rutland, with its wonderful ‘Capability Brown’ gardens.
With six interactive galleries, the UK’s largest planetarium, and the iconic 42m high Rocket Tower, the award-winning National Space Centre is an out of this world experience.
Burghley House, one of the largest and grandest houses of the first Elizabethan Age and is under an hour's drive away. It is also home to the Burghley Horse Trial three day event, normally held the first weekend in September.
Also in nearby Leicester, discover the incredible story of the king under the car park at the award-winning King Richard III Visitor Centre.
Enjoy a meal at the local pub, the Queens Head, a five minute drive away. A little further afield but worth the trip is Hambleton Hall, an award winning restaurant with Michelin starred chef.
