Beautiful, quirky and quintessentially British in its decor, the charm of The Dolphin, recently refurbished and well equipped, will appeal to most. Sit on the sofa, overlook peaceful Newport Quay and watch the world go by. The calm of the swans and the boats sailing down the River Medina is sure to relax you. Centrally located, (capital of IW) Newport town centre is but a few minutes walk away.
The Isle of Wight is home to Queen Victoria's Island residence, Osborne House. Carisbrooke Castle (where King Charles I was imprisoned) is another Isle of Wight English Heritage site. The apartment also has a comfortable single day bed (with a second pull out single bed on a wooden trug base) in the lounge, along with an additional sofa and armchair. En-suite shower room (optional curtained corridor available from lounge/bedroom to en-suite entrance). Due to the historic nature of this grade II listed converted pub apartment (with original narrow, curved staircase, small communal hallway and no garden) it is not suitable for guests with pets, young children or mobility issues). Ideal property for walkers, couples or friends who are looking for a top quality getaway on the beautiful IOW
Jo is a local business women that has always had a love of historical buildings and until 2021, owned a shop near to the Dolphin (in historical Holyrood Street) that originally sold Victoriana repro house and giftware as 'Days Gone By'. It's now called IW Traders and was also established by Jo ten years ago as a local cooperative of IW Traders, selling their beautiful wares. Please pay it a visit. That business led nicely on to the new holiday let venture, as Jo has been able to furnish the top floor located apartment in it's 1785 heritage style, full of period features. We hope you enjoy staying at The Dolphin as much as we have enjoyed setting it up for our guests
We have felt it important to offer as many amenities as possible to help our guests enjoy their stay at The Dolphin.

The Quay is a very picturesque and historical area of Newport. It was once how supplies came to the Island by the boats travelling up the River Medina (which leads back to Cowes and The Solent). There are some fabulous independent shops just round the corner in Holyrood Street. Where you will also find No 1 Holyrood St which serves amazing breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas. The Quay Arts is opposite the Dolphin and it is a hub for the arts with workshops, a theatre, cafe with outside area and numerous evenings and events including music and comedy clubs to name but a few. The Bargeman's Rest is another great music venue pub, just along the river. Beefeater serving a buffet breakfast can also be found along the river path. Burrs restaurant is truly delicious nearby in Lugley St, attracting diners such as Princess Anne.
Seaclose park, the site of the Isle of Wight music festival, is but a short walk or cycle away, along the river path. The Dolphin is in the middle of a network of cycle paths leading either to Cowes or Sandown/Shanklin. There are bus networks taking you all around the Island, which has a wealth of both towns and beautiful coastal/countryside walks.
