Nestled snugly in the Brecon Beacons is this stylish and cosy hideaway in the heart of the Black Mountains. Truly remote, this is the ultimate escape. “Re-wild" yourself in acres of tranquility. Wander straight out of your door and climb to some of the most surprisingly peaceful and breathtaking mountain vistas around. Then slink back home into your sauna, soothe your tired limbs and relax.
The property is an annexe off of the main house where we live. It's a cosy & spacious property consisting of a master bedroom (king size sumptuous bed) and ensuite sauna, with a spiral staircase taking you up to the main living space which has a bright contemporary feel - with deep lush colours, plenty of light and generous views across the valley. There is a log burner, modern kitchen, dinning area & extensive collection of vinyl records. Our Wifi is provided by fibre optic so although we are rural the connection is strong and reliable - streaming or connectivity for working or entertainment are not a problem.
Walking, wild swimming, mountain biking, waterfalls, horse riding, zip lines & fine dining are all nearby, details of which can be found in the guest guide book.
The property where we live, Ty Croes, is around 45 acres and consists of fields, woods, ponds and a brook running along the boundary - all of which you are free to explore. Around May one of the woods has the most amazing bluebells and within that wood there is an area with hammocks and swing seats which is either perfect for reading in the morning sun or in the star gazing at night by the fire.
You will be staying on a working small holding so there will be an array of animals (in small quantities). Sheep, cows, pigs, geese and poultry are all around (depending on time of year) and you are welcome to join in the process of feeding them - but obviously please remember to close all gates behind you. We also have a beautiful large refreshing wild swimming pond with some boats and floats that you are welcome to use. In summer we have a tipi in one of the fields which you can ask to use and have a BBQ by.
We are generally around tending the land / livestock so there will most likely be some interaction with us the hosts (Niki & Hugo) but we will keep our distance and we don't bite - unlike the geese!
We are located just outside the village of Llanbedr and 4 miles from the picturesque town of Crickhowell (winner of High Street of the year in 2018!) which is home to a thriving high street full of great pubs, quality butchers, independent book shops and so much more. Further afield you have the market town of Abergavenny, which hosts a fabulous food festival and other culinary delights.
It's a superb location for walking / running with both the epic 16 mile Llanbedr Horseshoe & Table Mountain accessible straight out the front door, the latter can also be tackled at night, should one be feeling romantic and inspired by a stroll under the moonlight! We are lucky to be in one of the top dark sky reserves in the world and the night sky can be astonishing. Feel free to ask if you are interested in the use of our telescope.
We are off the beaten track and 10mins from the local shops - so use of a car is advisable.
